Notice of Passing – John Papaloukas

It is with deep sadness that the Juan de Fuca Gun Club announces the passing of John Papaloukas, a valued member of our community and a director on our board.

Although John served as a director for only a short time, he made a meaningful contribution to the club. Most notably, he was responsible for organizing the memorable Range Day with Navy SEAL Rob Roy – an event that reflected his enthusiasm, dedication, and commitment to creating opportunities for our members.

John passed away while vacationing in Greece with his family, who are all proud members of the club. We extend our heartfelt condolences to them during this difficult time and honor John’s lasting impact on our community.

He will be greatly missed.

Obituary: JOHN PULLEN

July 03 1946 - June 05 2025

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of John Pullen on Thursday, June 5th, 2025 after a lengthy illness. A respected figure in the Victoria area, John was known and loved by thousands for his warmth, integrity, and lifelong dedication to his craft and community. 

As a skilled gunsmith and long time owner of a well regarded local shop, JP's reputation extended far beyond his business. He was a trusted expert, a mentor to many, and a friendly face who always had time to share or lend a helping hand. His knowledge, honesty, and passion for firearms safety and history helped shape a generation of enthisiasts and collectors.

John was deeply involved in the local sport shooting community and a driving force behind the Saanich Gun Show. He served as an organizer for many years, bringing together collectors, sportspersons, and families in celebration of a shared passion. His leadership as the past president of the Juan de Fuca Gun Club left an indelible impact on all with his contributions helping to grow and strenghthen the orginazation. 

Above all, John was a friend to so many. His generosity, good humour, and unwavering commintment to the things and people he loved made him unforgettable. He will be profoundly missed and always remembered. 

Predeceased by his loving wife Susie (Susan Elizabeth Lundy) 11 years ago, John is survived by countless friends, colleagues, and extended family, his sister Keltie Andre and family who will carry his memory forward with love and gratitude.

JP was also a former forester and lover of animals and nature. In lieu of flowers or cards, a donation in John's name to Wild Arc in Metchosin is appreciated.
